Workshops and Seminars

  • Graduate Course: Transdisciplinary Science
USF Graduate Students: New for this Fall, join USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences Associate Dean Howard Goldstein and USF’s pandemic researchers to learn how to bring a transdisciplinary approach to fighting the COVID19 pandemic. This one-credit seminar will meet virtually on Wednesday’s, 3:30-5 p.m.

Each week will feature an interdisciplinary panel of faculty investigators who are part of USF’s unique Pandemic Response Research Network and who are collaborating on a different facet of the pandemic. The panelists will describe their studies and their role on the transdisciplinary research team. Graduate students from across campus will participate in discussions with panelists on current trends in scientific thinking, policies, initiatives, and the framing of important problems. The goal of this course is for students to explore how their disciplinary training could be applied to research seeking to tackle such problems through transdisciplinary projects.
  • The USF Summer Grant Writing Workshops are hosted by the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. These workshops are ideal for early career faculty and doctoral students. Supplementing the courses are keynote speakers invited from sponsor agencies. The workshops are open to all faculty, students and staff, as well as the community. Participants learn about the proposal development process, beginning with identifying the right grant opportunity and progressing to mock peer review. See more information.
